Identifying the Top Small Colleges for the ISFJ Personality
Because the ISFJ personality is a unique and blended personality type, there are several criteria that an ideal ISFJ college must possess. An ISFJ will benefit from a learning environment that is supportive, engaging and hands-on. A smaller learning environment is ideal, as they tend to be more private and introverted. A large school environment might not allow the ISFJ to interact comfortably with their peers and instructors as fully. For this reason, only schools with an undergraduate enrollment of 10,000 students or less were considered. Methodology
This list outlines 30 Colleges that provide the kind of environment that will strongly suit the ISFJ personality. Tuition information and accreditation information was gathered from the National Center for Educational Statistics College Navigator Tool. Enrollment, Student to Faculty Ratio data and campus setting data was collected from US News and World Report. Data relevant to each school was gathered from the schools website as listed. The pool of possible schools began with over two hundred of the countries best nationally ranked programs for ISFJ majors. This data was gathered from sources such as US News and World Report as well as the other rankings of top programs in medicine, academia, social work, human resources, health care management, physician assistant, librarian and nurse practitioner. The schools in this pool were ranked using the following point system.

While there is no undergraduate program in this field, there are two graduate degree options. SLIM also confers a fully online 18-credit-hour Archives Studies certificate and a School Library Media Specialist program. MLS students complete the program with a cohort group, which elevates the academic support system and provides a professional network that includes 112 years of SLIM alumni. All required MLS courses are taught face-to-face in two weekend-intensive classes supplemented by online Canvas instruction.
SLIM also offers a Doctor of Philosophy in Library and Information Science with classes taught on the Emporia campus and attended either face-to-face or through an online learning. Doctoral courses are designed to address the needs of traditional and non-traditional students with only two weekend-intensive weekends per course, supplemented by online instruction. The doctoral curriculum is a five-tier progression that introduces students to library and information science research through coursework, all while preparing them for completion of a dissertation. Students plan a concentration to reflect their interest in specific fields of study.

The Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Library Science prepares students to work as paraprofessionals and provisional librarians in a variety of settings, including public libraries. Students are introduced to the worlds of information management and information transfer, in both traditional and developing venues. The degree program serves as an excellent training for students who plan to work towards their master’s degree in library setting. This program is offered at the Clarion campus and online.
The Master of Science in Information and Library Science (MS-LS) program was the first of its kind in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. At Clarion, a very popular way to earn the MS-LS degree is through the online learning format. Courses are offered online for individuals who wish to complete their program on a full-time or part-time basis. Students can start taking classes during the fall, spring and summer semesters. The career aspirations of the students in this program will vary. Within the MS-LS degree the following concentrations are also available; management of information agencies, information access, reference and user services, and local and archival studies. This program is offered only online.
The Master of Science in Library Science in School Library Media consists of courses that prepare students to become school librarians. It must be noted that Clarion does not grant actual school library media certification. A student wishing to obtain Pennsylvania Library Science Certification for K-12 who holds a valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate can complete the MS-LS school library media and then check with the Pennsylvania Department of Education for additional certification requirements. Students from other states must inquire with their state department of education to determine certification requirements. This program is offered only online.
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration prepares nurses to become primary care providers in settings such as community health centers, clinics and private practices. The FNP concentration is 45 semester hours long and includes 600 hours of clinical practice. Graduates of this program are amply prepared to provide primary care in medically under-served areas in western Pennsylvania. They also are eligible to apply to the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing for legal certification as certified registered nurse practitioners in family health after passing professional certification exams through either the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. This program is offered only online.
The Clarion and Edinboro Universities’ Doctor of Nursing Practice Program is a 34-credit program that offers specialty electives in advanced clinical practice and clinical nursing education. Courses can be taken part-time over six semesters in an online format. The program is designed to be flexible, affordable and professionally rewarding. This program is offered only online.

The unique school does not have some of the more traditional college staples such as Greek organizations, varsity sports or course grades. Smith College is located in Northampton, Massachusetts, just two hours from Boston and three hours from downtown New York City. Smith is one of the largest liberal arts schools for women in the United States, and supports more than 100 student organizations. Smith is part of the Five Colleges consortium, which includes Amherst, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Simmons College is located in the Fenway neighborhood of Boston, and is a small school for undergraduate women and male and female graduate students. Students at Simmons College can select from more than 50 undergraduate majors and enroll in the country’s only MBA program designed exclusively for women through the School of Management. The Myers Briggs Type Indicator Test (MBTI) is the most widely administered, reliable personality measure available. There are many uses for the test, including things such as psychological evaluations, new employee screenings, background checks and many more. The Myers Briggs is a personality inventory based upon the teachings of world-renowned psychologist Carl Jung. According to Jung’s theory, there are many nuances to behavior that underlie the way that people think, act and perceive the world. The MBTI uses a series of questions to determine your tendencies in four unique areas of measurement. These include:
Favorite world: Do you favor the outer world or on your own inner world? This is called Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I).
Information: Do you prefer the basic information you take in or do you prefer to interpret and add meaning? This is called Sensing (S) or Intuition (N).
Decisions: When making decisions, do you look first at logic and consistency or at the people and special circumstances? This is called Thinking (T) or Feeling (F).
Structure: When encountering the outside world, do you prefer to have decisions made or stay open to new information and options? This is called Judging (J) or Perceiving (P).
These four measures then determine your Personality Type, which is expressed as a code with four letters. There are 16 personality types that make up the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator “type table,” each with it’s very unique set of characteristics, preferences and strengths. There are four groupings of personality types labeled Analysts, Diplomats, Sentinels and Explorers.
